Air Filled Organs: husks, filagree and roots

The focus of this research was on the role of plants in healing. Each of the plants used were found in Ontario and have a relationship with health. The photograms consist of plant matter, roots, leaves, flowers, stems etc. The projections incorporate plant material that allude to human anatomy. All of the plants, some of which are considered weeds, have been used to treat various lung ailments.

Research into the way we are affected by our experiences, with one another, animals, plants and our shared environment, and whether/ how these encounters create lasting change is something that interests me.  This research in conjunction with the belief that human healing can only occur in conjunction with the restoration of other animal and plant species, and the healing of our shared environment, form the basis of my practice.
